August 8 – Bonfire day!

The day dawned hot and balmy. This is appropriate for an August day in Minnesota…but is bad news for a bonfire that someone scheduled to start at 4 pm!

What was I thinking?!?! I meant to change the start time to something more bonfire like some time last week, but I completely forgot that I was going to do that…and so I didn’t. So, here I sit, like a crazy person, in 90+ degree heat with 80% humidity, with a fire.

Lucky for me, some of my friends care enough to brave the heat. The first guests don’t manage to eat any hot dogs, though, it is too hot to eat much less hold a stick next to a fire.

Later in the evening there was a huge thunderstorm (which did not put out the fire, let me tell you). While it was raining, the rumi, a guest and I used the George Foreman in the garage to cook up a few Tofurky Beer Brats. The lavender lemonade came out too. Mmmmm. After the rain it was cool enough to cook some marshmallows over the fire.
